ROM by Yildiray Cinar. Plus, some bad ass Firefall fan art by mystery guest artist

Here's a guy I've been hearing more about in recent months. It turns out that this guy is quite accomplished in the comic book industry. You may have seen him featured in other blogs out there you've visited or go to on a regular basis. Cinar is from Turkey of all places which hasn't been at the top of my list of favorite foreign countries in recent years thanks to the anti-Western rhetoric coming from it's prime minister along with it's close ties to iran. But now thanks to Cinar's work I can say at least one good thing has come from that country.

Here's a real treat for all you Firefall fans especially. I can only assume this one was inspired by ROM #4 and or Marvel Team Up # 99. I wish I knew who did this it's pretty hot (yeah bad pun intended) . Would the real artist for this please stand up? Be sure to magnify this one to get a better look at the details.

  1. Ooooh. Pretty. There are some artists you look at and the whole canvas just screams "SHINY". Which is perfect when they draw ROM. Or that Firestorm Brightest Day through the link. Just gorgeous. And the bottom drawing is just amazing in the use of color to make it really seem as if the whole thing is on fire. I can almost feel the heat waves coming off of it. I hope you find out who drew it.

  2. as we all know monkeys like shiny things. and as an off shoot of the primate family we humans happen to share 94% of our DNA with chimps.

  3. Thanks again for the plug Dave - Yildiray has done almost every character the big two have ever touched, and still with each sketch I'm left saying 'wow'.

  4. You guys know how I feel about the Firefall piece. As for the Rom, it is very good. Damn, does Marvel Know just how much of a following this Spaceknight has?

  5. well i think the fact that Marvel gave the green light to do and continue the Annihilators series is evidence that Marvel has at least some idea how ROM still has a following today. the problem is with the stupid assholes at the toy company who are sitting on the rights to the ROM name for unknown reasons. i'll be posting soon a recent letter that was writen and sent by a ROM fan out there in order to make an appeal for having the the rights to the ROM name sold to Marvel. the response was all too predictable.

  6. Terrific art!!! Yildray is the man, I love his use of white-out and wash!

It must be said: Jim Shooter himself commented on the saga of ROM. Don't miss it, yah? http://www.jimshooter.com/2011/06/coming-of-rom-knights-tale.html
